Atlanta Rock Music Network

The one stop solution for all the needs of Atlanta rock musicians and fans.

Well, the local brothers (Rich and Chris Robinson) who made it big have once again made up for the moment and reformed their band the Black Crowes. It has been seven years since the last Crowes disc of new songs and this one is well worth the wait. The new CD, entitled "Warpaint", has eleven songs that embrace the bluesy, southern rock sound that made the band superstars in the 90's. The first single, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution" sounds like classic Crowes complete with female background singers.
The band has gone through a few line up changes since there last inception. Lead guitarist Marc Ford has left and been replaced by former North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson. Also, longtime keyboardist Ed Harsh who quit in 2006 has been replaced by Adam MacDougall. The new members fit in nicely and casual listeners of the band probably won't even notice the change.
On Sunday March 9, 2008 the band played to a sold out show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. The show was unique in that the band played only new music, save for one old Crowes song. The new tunes sounded great live and the crowd seemed not to mind hearing their old favorites. It was as if the band was saying, "hey, we have new members and new songs-this is where we are at now so come along for the ride and enjoy." At least for that night, the fans in attendance did just that.
